Carbon Isotopic Signature and Organic Matter Composition of Cenomanian High-Latitude Paleosols of Southern Patagonia

چکیده
The Cenomanian Mata Amarilla Formation (MAF) in southern Patagonia (~55° S paleolatitude, Austral-Magallanes Basin, Argentina) is composed mainly of stacked fluvial deposits with intercalated paleosols, which document environments at high-paleolatitudes the Southern Hemisphere. We performed a multiproxy study paleosols and sediments MAF order to (1) understand composition soil- sediment-derived organic matter (OM), (2) apply carbon isotope stratigraphy as tool correlate patterns obtained from existing marine non-marine δ13Corg records worldwide, (3) investigate relationship between variations spore-pollen assemblages climatic conditions prevailing An integrated dataset was generated, including total content, Rock-Eval pyrolysis data, stable (δ13Corg) composition, palynological combined published paleosol-derived mean annual temperatures precipitations. results indicated that OM preserved allowed its use chemostratigraphic tool. curve showed rather pattern characteristic for Early Late interval. absence major positive excursion associated oceanic anoxic event 2 provided an upper limit stratigraphic range MAF. data suggested development fern prairies during warmer moister periods expense background gymnosperm-dominated forests. Overall, record new insights into long-term environmental high latitudes

Carbon isotopic characterisation of dissolved organic matter during water treatment.
Water treatment is a series of physio-chemical processes to aid organic matter (OM) removal, which helps to minimise the formation of potentially carcinogenic disinfection by-products and microbial regrowth. Changes in OM character through the treatment processes can provide insight into the treatment efficiency, but radiogenic isotopic characterisation techniques have yet to be applied. Here, ...
متن کاملOrganic Carbon and Organic Matter Levels in Sediments of the Strait of Hormoz, the Persian Gulf
Total organic carbon has a major influence on both the chemical and biological processesthat take place in sediments. Algal bloom is one of the organic carbon levels in aquatic ecosystems. In 2009 algal bloom occurred in the Hormozgan province and prolonged for months, which finally setteled down in 2010. In this study the variations of total organic carbon (TOC), organic matter (TOM) and tot...
متن کاملStable Carbon and Nitrogen Isotopic Composition of Benthic and Pelagic Organic Matter in Lakes of the McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica
The perennially ice-covered lakes in the McMurdo Dry Valleys, Antarctica, are part of the coldest and driest ecosystem on earth. To understand lacustrine carbon and nitrogen cycling in this end-member ecosystem, and to define paleolimnological proxies for ice-covered lakes, we measured the stable carbon and nitrogen isotopic composition of particulate organic matter (POM) and benthic organic ma...

boron nitride semiconducting zigzag swcnt, $b_{cb}$$n_{cn}$$c_{1-cb-cn}$, as a potential candidate for making nanoelectronic devices was examined. in contrast to the previous dft calculations, wherein just one boron and nitrogen doping configuration have been considered, here for the average over all possible configurations, density of states (dos) was calculated in terms of boron and nitrogen ...
15 صفحه اولcarbon stocks and isotopic composition of the organic matter in soils covered by native vegetation and pasture in sorocaba, sp, brazil
land cover change constitutes one of main way of alteration of soil organic matter in both quantitative and qualitative terms. the goal of this study was to compare the carbon stock and the isotopic signature of the organic matter in the soil of areas with different land use, covered with forest and grass (pasture). the study area is located at sorocaba, sp, brazil. using un-deformed soil sampl...
